I know there are different ways of drug testing. My question is, what is the difference between the hair, urine, saliva, and blood testing? Is it just the preference of the one ordering the drug test?

The main difference between the drug testing types is the time frames. Hair is going to give you an approximate 90 day history, but you have to keep in mind you should allow approximately 1 month for recent usage to show in the results. Urine, blood, and saliva tests will detect recent usage over the last few days but nothing extensive. Urine give approximately a 3-4 day history. Saliva is a few days detection. Blood gives a very short time frame that can be only hours.
